OnePlus Open analysis: the only convertible phone that doesn’t cut down on features

The OnePlus Open is the only large foldable phone that isn’t a compromise. It looks and feels like a regular phone, and the camera is the greatest on any foldable device. You can get a foldable with additional capabilities than a Galaxy, but the OnePlus Open offers sleek, capable multitasking and a terrific folding experience, which is all you need. There are certain flaws – performance and battery life need to be improved – but the Open is superior than the competition, and the greatest thing is that it is substantially less expensive.

Once you open the OnePlus Open, you’re met by the largest, brightest, and most pleasant display of all the giant foldable phones.

The OnePlus Open is the first true tablet foldable device. All of the ‘Folds’ that came before, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Pixel Fold, feel incorrect. When closed, they have odd shapes: the Galaxy is too thin, and the Pixel is too squat. The shape of the OnePlus Open is excellent, and it’s the greatest significant upgrade OnePlus could have made to the form factor. If you’re paying twice as much for a phone, you shouldn’t have to worry about it being the wrong size half of the time.

When you open the OnePlus Open, you’re met by the largest, brightest, and most pleasant display of all the giant foldable phones. You have to look closely to detect the crease, and it’s barely noticeable when you touch it.

The best of all, the phone is easy and pleasant to use. The Galaxy can be stiff at first, and the Pixel Fold never likes to open flat – it requires an unpleasant second push, and I was always afraid of breaking my Pixel Fold. Whenever I open the hinge, the OnePlus Open comes to life.

Compared to other foldable tablets, the OnePlus Open is just better. It’s a better size when it’s closed. It’s easier to open. In every way, the Open is a better experience, but OnePlus didn’t stop at the folding hinge. It also added something that no other foldable phone maker has dared: really good cameras.

The size constraints of the fold-in-half design have resulted in cameras that range from subpar to downright bad on every other foldable phone. The OnePlus Open has the finest cameras of the lot, and it comes close to being as excellent as the top flat camera phones, closer than any other foldable I’ve used, Of course, this demands a massive camera hump around the back, and it is a tremendous bubble, twice as thick as the thickest camera bump you’ve ever seen. It’s a worthwhile trade-off, even if it occasionally made the phone feel odd in my pocket.

When it comes to camera angles, foldable phones may be really adaptable, and it’s a shame that the best folding phones so far haven’t had cameras to match the potential. The OnePlus Open mostly addresses this issue. When folded, the OnePlus Open is the thinnest folding phone I’ve seen, and it’s just as thin as the Pixel Fold when open. The OnePlus Open manages to provide larger displays and longer battery life while being lighter than competitors.

In fact, it’s far lighter than the Pixel, which makes a significant difference while carrying it around. The OnePlus Open weighs around the same as last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max. Including two displays, a larger battery, and a quality camera.

The OnePlus Open costs $1,683 / INR1,40,000, and OnePlus has a trade-in promotion in the US that effectively reduces the price by at least $200 for everyone, regardless the phone traded. According to OnePlus, this offer will be accessible for the duration of the phone’s lifecycle, making the OnePlus Open the most affordable huge foldable phone to hit the Indian market.

It is, however, still pricey. Because OnePlus isn’t selling the OnePlus Open through wireless carriers, you won’t be able to sign your life away for a fantastic bargain on a multi-year contract in order to receive this phone for free.

The phone is certified for all major carrier networks; however, it will not be offered in those stores. It is available for purchase from OnePlus or a big online shop in your area, such as Amazon or Flipkart in Indian market.

The OnePlus Open is also the first large foldable that is truly worth the price. If you were already set on a foldable, I could propose the best, but I never wanted to use one due of all the tradeoffs. The Open not only corrects the flaws of previous huge foldable phones, but it also breaks new ground with a larger display and far superior cameras. After this review, I’m not going back to my old phone, a Galaxy S23 Ultra. I’m not going to stop utilizing this Open.

SOFTWARE ONEPLUS OPEN REVIEW :

  • The elegant UI is not in the way.
  • For better or worse, it lacks the feature set of Samsung.
  • It works well with the OnePlus Pad.

The OnePlus Open’s OnePlus Oxygen OS interface is sleek and elegant, more comparable to Google’s Pixel version of Android than Samsung’s One UI layout. If it doesn’t mean much to you, simply know that the Open is simple to set up and operate, with no unexpected malfunctions or unforced errors.

Samsung supporters, on the other hand, have a shotgun full of features ready to fire at any competitor, and a few of these can be unquestionably useful. The OnePlus Open cannot be converted into a desktop PC like Samsung’s DeX software. You won’t have a second virtual assistant like Samsung at your disposal to control all of your phone’s settings. A precise pen cannot be used on the Open’s display. I could keep going.

rEVIEW ON ONEPLUS OPEN : DESIGN

  • The thinnest and lightest foldable available (in major markets)
  • In comparison with Samsung and Google Crease is practically
  • imperceptible and scarcely haptic.

When closed, the OnePlus Open is admittedly significant, and I attempted to recall the last time I owned a flat phone that was this thick. When closed, the iPhone 3GS from 2009 was around 12mm thicker than the OnePlus Open. The iPhone 4 shrank significantly, sparking a revolution of small phones with metal frames and glass on the front and back.

Most significantly, the cover display’s aspect ratio is nearly comparable to that of the top phones on the market. The aspect ratio of an iPhone is 19.5:9. The aspect ratio of the OnePlus Open is 20:9. It’s not as thin as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 or any other ‘Galaxy Fold’ device from Samsung, and it’s not as squat and wide as the Pixel Fold. If they didn’t see it from the side, no one would know you were carrying a foldable phone.
