Android is the mobile operating system that powers the vast majority of smartphones sold worldwide. It competes with Apple’s iOS as the most popular operating system.
In contrast to iOS, which is only available on iPhones, Android is available on a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and televisions. Furthermore, it is used by a variety of companies, including Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, and, of course, its originator, Google. Because of Android’s versatility and flexibility, there are Android phones at every price point with capabilities like quick charging, high-resolution displays, and multiple cameras.
Google, like Apple, releases new Android versions on an annual basis, though other Android manufacturers will frequently combine their own features and brand it as something else. Android 13 debuted as OneUI 5 on Samsung phones and ColorOS 13 on Oppo phones, for example.
Android 14 is likely to be released on Google Pixel phones by the end of 2023, with other smartphone makers following soon after.
