Marvel has apparently canceled movie sequel plans for three of its biggest box office disasters

According to a new leak, Marvel has opted not to produce sequels to three of its biggest box office disappointments.

Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider who goes by the moniker DanielRPK in online circles, posted to Patreon (thanks to That Redacted Guy on X/Twitter for the screenshot) to allege that Marvel has scrapped sequel plans for three underappreciated films. Which film franchises are in question? Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films that underperformed in theaters include Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Eternals.

The apparent announcement that Marvel has put Eternals 2 on indefinite hold has, perhaps surprisingly, sparked the most outrage among MCU fans. Its predecessor, directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao and debuted in theaters in 2021, barely grossed $402 million worldwide. With an awful (by Marvel standards) 47% Rotten Tomatoes critics score, Eternals was the Disney subsidiary’s biggest movie flop until Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with a little worse 46% Rotten Tomatoes rating, surpassed it as the worst-rated MCU film of all time.

Despite its underwhelming result, several members of the MCU’s global fans believed Eternals 2 would eventually be released. However, with Marvel re-evaluating which movies and Disney Plus shows it wants to make, it appears that Eternals 2, while never formally confirmed, will not be included in Marvel Phase 5 or Marvel Phase 6.

Following Daniel RPK’s leak, fans have rushed to X/Twitter, Reddit, and other social media platforms to vent their disappointment over Eternals 2’s likely cancellation. Many fans are disappointed that they will not be able to see this group of superheroes again, as well as music sensation Harry Styles’ Eros, who was hinted to in one of two Eternals post-credit scenes.

Of course, I shouldn’t have to mention that, but it’s only a rumor for now. Marvel Studios has not commented on the above, and while it is unlikely that it will, there is no evidence that Eternals 2 was covertly in development or has been canceled. I’ve reached out to Disney to check whether there’s any truth to the leak, and, while I don’t expect to receive a response, I’ll update this article if I hear back.

What about Ant-Man 4 and Captain Marvel III?

They’re in the same boat. As previously stated, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was panned by reviewers in early 2023, and despite grossing $476 million worldwide, I doubt we’ll see Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang return to the big screen outside of a potential appearance in Avengers 5 and/or Avengers 6.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel confronts a similarly bleak future. The Marvels – effectively Captain Marvel 2, albeit with strong ties to WandaVision and Ms Marvel – may have fared better than its predecessors. Despite having a 62% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it grossed only $206 million – five times less than 2019’s billion-dollar-making Captain Marvel. Larson has even hinted that she may not return as Carol Danvers due to the film’s bad response and performance, telling Variety, “Does anyone want me to do it [play Captain Marvel] again?”

Not to repeat myself, but we should approach this fresh leak with caution. Aside from the projects that have been announced, no one knows what Marvel has planned for the future. There is a chance that any or all of the above sequels will be greenlit – and, with Eternals setting up events that could play out in Marvel’s Blade movie reboot, as well as Ant-Man 3 and The Marvels’ ties to the studio’s overarching multiversal narrative, we need resolutions to all three’s lingering story threads.

If said plotlines get addressed in another film or TV show, fair enough – but it would be a tragedy if some of these characters are simply never seen again because Marvel doesn’t consider them as money-spinning entities anymore. If nothing else, they should appear in the next two Avengers flicks before riding off into the sunset.

Prepare yourself for another likely Netflix price increase this year – here’s why

Netflix is likely to raise pricing again in several areas later this year.

The warning comes from a group of analysts at Swiss banking business UBS Securities, who said customers should “expect to see rate increases” as the entertainment industry shifts. Among other things, they point out that the platform’s total American viewing increased from 7.7 percent to 7.9 percent in January 2024. Furthermore, established media organizations are increasingly turning to streaming platforms. Businesses will attempt to curate their libraries, reduce production costs, and focus more on “content licensing” to better consolidate their platforms.

Netflix, in particular, is in a strong position to benefit from the evolving landscape, implying that the firm may feel confident enough to boost pricing again. After all, they do have a number of well-regarded television shows, films, and video games. The additional revenue from the price increase, along with the income from the ad-supported tier and subscriber growth, could increase the company’s revenue by 15%.

Possible price increase

Granted, these statements are made by only one group of analysts. As far as we can tell, no one else is making a similar forecast, and Netflix has not made any explicit announcements about planned changes.

However, there are excellent reasons to expect it will occur. Variety cites a Q4 2023 earnings call in which Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters stated that the business has “largely put price increases on hold” while launching the “paid-sharing program.” He seemed to be alluding to the Extra Member option, which was adopted in 2023. However, now that the experiment is ended, Netflix intends to restart its “standard approach toward price increases.”

Of course, this might backfire. Subscribers could leave in droves. However, as Peters points out, the latest significant price increase performed “better than [they] forecasted.”

Analysis: Overconfident?

One must ponder, “Is Netflix justified in its confidence, or is it overconfident?” It could just be the former. Despite the internet backlash, the platform experienced significant growth when it implemented the password crackdown and ad-supported tiers. According to UBS Securities, Netflix “added 29.5 million net new subscribers in 2023”. The move was and will likely continue to be a big success, with analysts predicting a higher cash flow than expected well into 2027.

Another walk has the potential to be the final straw. Viewers may abandon their memberships en masse due to rising expenses, but this remains to be seen. Please take this information with a grain of salt. It is all supposition the moment.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is an unfulfilling remake; watch these 5 intriguing fantasy shows instead

Following its surprise success with the legendary manga/anime adaption One Piece, Netflix is back on track with a live-action remake version.

Indeed, Netflix’s latest adaptation of a renowned cartoon series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, has divided fans and critics alike. At the time of writing, critical reception for the show was mixed, with Netflix’s rendition receiving a 59% rating on popular review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes (RT). However, general audiences have appreciated it significantly more, with Avatar receiving a much higher 75% rating.

Like many critics, we were unimpressed by Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. We described it as a “gutsy but frustrating remake that blows hot and cold” in our review, so we can’t say it’s a must-see. The following similarly positioned shows, however, are all must-sees, so watch one of these five fantasy series on Netflix instead of the streaming service’s most recent big-budget offering.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Seasons: 3
RT score: 100% (critics); 98% (audience)

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s original season, which premiered on Nickelodeon, is a wonderfully animated and emotionally charged roller coaster of a TV show.

Michael Dante DiMartino and Brian Konietzko’s TV show follows the same plot as Netflix’s remake: Aang, the 12-year-old sole survivor of the Air Nomads and the latest reincarnation of the all-powerful Avatar, must reluctantly accept his fate and prevent the tyrannical Fire Nation from ruling over its fellow nations.

However, even simple tale explanation fails to capture the enormous scale of the Avatar animated series. It’s funny, heartbreaking, action-packed, and full of engaging characters that grow as the series unfolds. It also addresses unpleasant issues (genocide, imperialism, and mortality, to name only a few) Frequently overlooked in children’s programs. It’s a rare kind of anime-style show that’s just as good today as it was in 2005.

Castlevania

Seasons: 4
RT Score: 94% (critics); 89% (audience)

Castlevania, based on Konami’s popular 2D side-scrolling dark fantasy horror games of the same name, is an R-rated animated series that deserves far more attention than it received during its four-season run on the world’s top streaming service.

Trevor Belmont, the last living member of a once-feared and famed monster hunting family, teams up with magician Sypha Belnades and Alucard, Dracula’s son, to defeat the iconic vampire lord and his undead army and liberate Wallachia from Dracula’s totalitarian tyranny.

Netflix’s Castlevania plays a little fast and loose with its source material, especially Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, but it weaves the stories in Konami’s games into a tremendously amusing, gore-laced package that’s devilishly lovely to watch. Castlevania: Nocturne, the spin-off series, is also amazing.

One Piece

One Piece is the only one of Netflix’s three live-action remakes of legendary anime, the other two being Cowboy Bebop and the aforementioned Avatar. It is a fairly faithful adaptation that maintains the endearing essence of its animated and manga namesakes.

It chronicles the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a passionate and generous pirate who aspires to be King of the Pirates. Monkey, together with his eccentric crew (collectively known as the Straw Hats), sets off on a global quest to obtain the titular One Piece, a fabled jewel that would help him achieve his aim.

Netflix’s One Piece ruled the streaming high seas after its first season debuted at number one on the streaming service’s TV charts in August 2023. Given its unparalleled success, Netflix quickly greenlit a second season of One Piece. Our One Piece season 2 guide has all you need to know about it. You know, once you’ve seen the eight-part first installment.

Six seasons of the One Piece anime series are also accessible on Netflix (in the United States and Australia). Other seasons are available on Hulu, Pluto TV (US), and Crunchyroll (US, UK, and Australia).

The Sandman

Seasons: 1
RT score: 88% (critics); 80% (audience)

It took 35 years for Neil Gaiman’s iconic, mind-bending, and ingeniously crafted graphic novel series to finally receive a live-action adaptation that matched its source material. That is exactly what happened in mid-2022, with the release of The Sandman season 1 on Netflix.

Gaiman’s foundational novels follow Morpheus (also known as Dream), one of the seven eternal deities known as the Endless, whose kingdom falls into disarray after he is unexpectedly seized by a cult in 1916. Morpheus finally breaks free over a century later and begins reconstructing his kingdom, but he faces numerous challenges before he can realize his *ahem* dream.

In our review of season one of The Sandman, we dubbed it a “remarkably authentic adaptation that’s oh-so-nearly brilliant”. It’s full of big-brain notions and philosophical quandaries that can be disconcerting and confusing. Overall, The Sandman is a terrific fantasy series that deserves to be on our list of the top Netflix shows. After you’ve finished watching The Sandman season 2, read up on everything we know thus far.

Shadow & Bone

Seasons: 2.
RT score: 84 percent (critics and audience)

Despite its abrupt cancellation after two seasons – an ongoing fan campaign isn’t pure fantasy even four months later – Shadow and Bone is a fun-filled young adult fantasy that’s less sophisticated than The Sandman.

Its first season introduced viewers to Alina Starkov, a seemingly average cartographer who is discovered to be the Grishaverse’s next Sun Summoner, a rare breed of Grisha (this universe’s term for magicians) capable of creating light and combating dark forces all over the world. She’s essentially like Aang from The Last Airbender, a character who grudgingly undertakes the thankless responsibility of saving her world.

In our first season review of Shadow and Bone, we described it as “a faithful fantasy TV adaptation to rival The Witcher”. Unfortunately, Shadow and Bone season 2 failed to live up to the lofty expectations established by its predecessor – we termed it “a magic-fuelled mishmash” – which no doubt led to Netflix canceling the show rather than extending it for a third season. Still, based on its RT scores, it’s worth looking into.

Apple wanted to call the AirPods Pro ‘Extreme’, but I’m really glad they didn’t

Have you ever seen a meme of Steve Buscemi, an adult, dressed in teen skate attire and saying, “How do you do, fellow kids?” According to a new claim, Apple narrowly missed making a comparable cringe-worthy attempt to be cool with kids. Rather of calling its best wireless earbuds AirPods Pro, at least some Apple executives preferred the name AirPods Extreme.

That was a terrible idea, and Apple employees – who I believe were much younger than the individual or persons who thought “extreme” was a good word – immediately opposed. According to MacRumors, there were so many concerns that Apple soon decided to modify the name of the finest AirPods.

So, what’s so wrong with branding your earbuds AirPods Extreme? Allow me, an elderly person who had to ask my kids what “rizz,” “drip,” and “Harry Styles” meant, to explain why it isn’t hip just because old people think it is.

Extreme is a phrase from the 1990s, and it should stay there

The word “extreme” was widely used throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, but it had no meaning. We had extreme Right Guard deodorant, extreme Pringles, extreme Nachos, extreme Mountain Dew, extreme Taco Bell, and even Hostess Extreme Cream Twinkies, which was spelled eXtreme to make it even more extreme.

And there was the band Extreme, whose music was notable for not being extreme: their biggest hit, the anodyne ballad More Than Words, was so extreme that if you played the video to your mother, she’d nod her head along with the music and tell you that they seemed like a nice bunch of boys.

Here’s a video of Extreme not being that extreme.

Apple was not exempt from this. When Apple released a new version of its AirPort wireless router and companion laptop card with slightly faster Wi-Fi, it dubbed it the AirPort Extreme – but when you consider that the modem inside was dial-up and 56K, downloading an Extreme album would take an extremely long time, you can see the problem.

Extreme is a horrible name for any technology product. When you’ve already stated that your product is at the extreme of performance, you can’t just turn around and claim that your new version is ‘extremer’. There’s nowhere else to go.

So I’m delighted Apple didn’t name the AirPods Pro the AirPods Extreme. But I’m not certain that The executives had completely digested the lesson that their younger staff were trying to teach them. After all, if they did, they definitely wouldn’t have titled their first over-ear headphones AirPods Max.

Guy Ritchie’s sleek spinoff series The Gentlemen blazes into action on Netflix in March

Netflix has announced a streaming release date for The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s spinoff series from his film of the same name, with a series of cast posters (see the X post below) depicting so many blazers you’d think it was set in Savile Row.

The program, which will premiere on the finest streaming service on March 7, is a fresh story set in the same world as the movie, and like the original film’s plot, it’s an action comedy pitting clueless novices against seasoned tough guys.

The show centers on Theo James, played by Eddie Horniman from The White Lotus, who is the estranged son of an English aristocrat. When his father dies, he inherits the estate, unaware that it is a front for a large drug enterprise, which he quickly discovers. Despite not being a criminal, Theo must become one quickly or forfeit his entire estate.

Guy Ritchie’s action comedy: “Crime meets caviar”

Ritchie has collected an intriguing cast here, which includes Hollywood hardman Vinnie Jones, Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, and beloved performer Joely Richardson. Of course, Ray Winstone is also in it. He portrays Bobby Glass, a career criminal whose cannabis enterprise Theo unwittingly inherits.

Although the TV show has yet to receive reviews, the 2019 film that inspired it has received generally positive feedback. The Gentlemen was critically praised as a fun crime caper that attempted but failed to create a new spin on tired gangster movie cliches. It was effectively a cheeseburger of a film: enjoyable at the time, but hardly memorable.

However, for some critics, some pieces remained in their mind – and they were not good bits. Several reviewers were unimpressed by several of the gangsters’ gags in the picture, which plainly went intended to position the film as proudly un-“politically correct” but came across as simply condoning sloppy racism, anti-Semitism, and homophobia. Both TIME magazine and Vulture believed that some of the gags left “a bitter aftertaste.”

Hopefully, the error has not been carried over to the television show. Otherwise, the consensus is that if you like this type of thing, you will enjoy it. The film didn’t exactly explore new ground, but it was entertaining, thrilling, and amusing at times. In short, it was a Guy Ritchie film that delivered exactly as expected. The television program is expected to do the same.

Netflix’s House of Ninjas looks like the next Cobra Kai in this fast-paced new teaser

Sharpen your shurikens and clean your daggers: In Netflix’s new drama series, ninjas are the only ones who can assist Japan deal with a national disaster. Fortunately for the Japanese people, the ninjas are still alive, having spent years in hiding to remain out of sight and mind.

However, when the nation requires their assistance, the last and most dysfunctional ninja family must step up. Doesn’t that sound amazing? If the plot premise has already piqued your interest, the new trailer (linked below) will certainly heighten your anticipation.

Why are we enthusiastic about House of Ninjas?

Netflix introduced House of Ninjas in 2022, with an intriguing premise: the show focuses on the dysfunctional Tamara family, the last remaining ninjas in Japan, who hung up their ninjatōs after “a certain incident in the past”. However, when the greatest crisis in Japanese history threatens the entire country, they must leave their hiding location and prepare to fight.

According to Netflix, the show would combine “spy elements of ninjas taking on top secret missions with a family drama about a group of colorful family members.” That seems like a live-action version of The Incredibles, but instead of superheroes, the family are super-skilled killers, which sounds great. The clip indicates that, like the Pixar film, the show would play with the contrasts between normal life and the family’s secret identities.

Based on a script by Kento Kaku, Yoshiaki Murao, and Takafumi Imai, American director Dave Boyle wrote and directed the program, which stars Kento Kaku, Yosuke Eguchi, Tae Kimura, Kengo Kora, Aju Makita, and Nobuko Miyamoto.

We’re promised a “unconventional ninja spectacle” from the greatest streaming provider, mixing tension with lightning-fast action scenes – and you won’t have long to wait: the series will release on Netflix on February 15th.

GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far

GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of all time, therefore it’s safe to say that fans all around the world are eager for further information about the next Grand Theft Auto game. For the time being, Rockstar Games has published the first GTA 6 trailer, which has us excited for further details.

In terms of upcoming games, GTA 6 appears to be the most complex open-world we’ve seen so far, assuming Rockstar Games can build on the popularity of Grand Theft Auto 5. We already know that we’ll be returning to Vice City this time, which means that GTA 6’s story missions may contain references to some extremely renowned movies. One thing is certain: the game’s graphics are already pretty outstanding.

GTA 6: cut to the chase

  • What is it? The subsequent mainstream installment in the Grand Theft Auto series.
  • When does it come out? 2025
  • What device can I use to play it?  PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
  • Who is manufacturing it?  Rockstar Games.

GTA 6 Release Window and Platforms

GTA 6 will be released in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. This was shown in the game’s initial trailer. Aside from a year, we have no more information about when the game will be released. We’ll need to wait for additional information. An ex-Rockstar developer has detailed why GTA 6 will not be released for PC at launch: ‘This material is quite difficult.

When did GTA 6 disclosed?

GTA 6 was revealed on February 4, 2022, in the tweet embedded above. Ultimately, this was only confirmation that Rockstar was working on GTA 6, and no additional information was provided other than the fact that the game was in active development.

GTA 6 Promo

The GTA 6 trailer was revealed by Rockstar on December 4, 2023, following a leak online. The trailer was supposed to be released the next day, but plans changed. You can see it overhead, in all its sun-drenched magnificence. It is 91 seconds lengthy and introduces us to Lucia, one of GTA 6’s primary characters. You’ll get some beautiful images of Vice City beaches, bars, and even an alligator.

GTA 6 has been filmed in Vice City

GTA 6 will be set in the state of Leonida, which includes Vice City and beyond. In a newswire post published shortly after the clip, Rockstar characterizes the location as ‘the biggest, most immersive development of the Grand Theft Auto franchise yet’. The debut teaser shows several images of Vice City, although it’s unclear whether other places will be available at launch.

According to a Bloomberg story released in 2022, GTA 6’s geography was significantly larger at first, spanning areas from both North and South America. This was reportedly reduced during development, with Rockstar Games changing and concentrating its attention to Vice City and its surroundings. These are most likely the wetlands and bridges shown in the trailer, which are roughly based on the Florida Keys.

While this smaller launch map may initially appear discouraging, it is worth delving into other sections of the aforementioned report. Specifically, the GTA 6 map may not remain static after launch. Apparently, Rockstar intends to upgrade the map with more cities and inner areas after release, primarily to offer developers more breathing room and reduce overtime while GTA 6 is being developed. According to Bloomberg, new missions and geographical locations would be introduced “on a regular basis”.

GTA 6: Story and Playable Characters

Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 on December 4, 2023. It introduces us to Lucia, one of GTA 6’s primary characters. According to secret gameplay that surfaced online early in 2023, GTA 6 could include two playable characters. This is supported by the trailer, which depicts Lucia and her nameless partner carrying out robberies together.

In terms of story, GTA 6 appears to follow the couple as they seek to pull off a major score. Aside from that, we know it will take place in and around Vice City, and Lucia has already been incarcerated. We’ll have to wait to find out if GTA 6 will allow players to manage Lucia and her partner, but we do know a lot more about Lucia than the anonymous man in the teaser. Given that they both appear on the game’s main title card, it’s likely that there are two playable characters.

iOS 17.2 is officially available, and it includes seven new features, including a journal and spatial video

iOS 17.2, the second iterative update to iOS 17, is now available for download on any iPhone newer than the iPhone XR (if you haven’t already, here’s how to download iOS 17).

This next version to Apple’s massively popular operating system arrives less than two months following iOS 17.1, and adds additional changes to core iPhone functionality (think iMessage and the Action Button), as well as a slew of entirely new apps (hello, Journal!).

Here are seven of the coolest iOS 17.2 features to try right now.

The Journal application

The most notable feature in iOS 17.2 is a completely new app called Journal, which essentially turns your iPhone into a memory-collecting diary. It allows you to save your daily thoughts as text, photographs, videos, or even voice. However, using on-device machine learning, the app will also generate personalized suggestions and prompts, pushing you to capture your ideas based on recent images, workouts, places you’ve been, and more.

All Journal entries sync to iCloud, allowing you to view the same notes on other Apple devices, and the program also allows you to lock and designate particularly critical entries. Are you still not convinced? Allow Josie Watson, TechRadar’s Lifestyle Managing Editor, to explain why Apple’s Journal app is the blogging revolution you’ve been waiting for.

New Action Button Configurations

With the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple added the customisable Action Button, which has already shown to be a tremendously beneficial addition to the iPhone arsenal (here are five handy things the Action Button can do). However, iOS 17.2 adds further functionality to the Action Button in the form of Translate.

With the push of a button, your iPhone may now launch a translation session on the Dynamic Island, allowing you to swiftly translate foreign phrases without having to launch the full-fledged Translate app (or any rival translation program). Because everything is done on-device using the iPhone’s Neural Engine, you don’t have to worry about your voice being uploaded to Apple’s servers. Vamos!

Capture of spatial video

iOS 17.2 brings a few useful camera improvements to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, such as faster telephoto camera focusing, but the biggest new feature is the ability to record 3D spatial videos on your iPhone, in preparation for Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset.

Essentially, you can now capture 3D footage with only your iPhone’s primary and ultra wide cameras, which can then be seen in as many dimensions as you like using Apple’s first mixed-reality headset.

Of course, you won’t be able to view these videos in their intended 3D environment just yet, because the Vision Pro headset hasn’t launched – it’s expected to arrive in early 2024 – but with iOS 17.2, Apple is nonetheless giving iPhone users the opportunity the lay the groundwork for its imminent $3,499 product.

Please contact Key Verification

Contact Key Verification (CKV), first mentioned by Apple in December 2022, finally makes its public debut in iOS 17.2. This new security feature, according to the business, enables “users who face extraordinary digital threats – such as journalists, human rights activists, and members of government – [the option] to further verify that they are messaging only with the people they intend.”

In other words, in addition to end-to-end encryption, iMessage now adds an additional layer of protection that makes it more difficult for snoopers to eavesdrop on your communications.

Here are seven of the coolest iOS 17.2 features to try right now.

Updates to iMessage

The Messages app has also been upgraded in a number of other ways. A catch-up arrow (located in the top-right corner of a message thread) now allows you to quickly navigate to your first unread message in a conversation, and a new sticker option in the context menu allows you to add a sticker straight to a bubble. You can also change the shape of your Memoji’s body.

Updates to the weather app

In terms of weather, iOS 17.2 adds a few useful upgrades to Apple’s weather app. Precipitation amounts now provide hourly rain and snow conditions for the next ten days, and new widgets include next-hour precipitation, daily forecast, dawn and sunset times, and current conditions like Air Quality, Feels Like, and wind speed.

Wind map snapshot allows you to rapidly examine wind patterns and access the animated wind map overlay to better prepare for expected wind conditions, and the interactive moon calendar allows you to instantly visualize the phase of the moon on any day for the following month.

AirDrop enhancements

AirDrop capability appears to be getting better with each incremental iOS version, and iOS 17.2 is no exception. By putting two iPhones together and using Apple’s Bluetooth sharing feature, you can now exchange boarding passes, movie tickets, and other qualified passes.

NETFLIX

Netflix is without a doubt the most well-known name in streaming. The company, which began as a mail-order DVD service in the late 1990s, utterly disrupted the traditional media sector when it debuted an online streaming service in 2007 and continues to be the dominant player in the space today.

Netflix has played an important role in the transition from traditional cable and satellite television to streaming services, and it has had a big impact on how people consume entertainment material.
