Netflix’s House of Ninjas looks like the next Cobra Kai in this fast-paced new teaser

Sharpen your shurikens and clean your daggers: In Netflix’s new drama series, ninjas are the only ones who can assist Japan deal with a national disaster. Fortunately for the Japanese people, the ninjas are still alive, having spent years in hiding to remain out of sight and mind.

However, when the nation requires their assistance, the last and most dysfunctional ninja family must step up. Doesn’t that sound amazing? If the plot premise has already piqued your interest, the new trailer (linked below) will certainly heighten your anticipation.

Why are we enthusiastic about House of Ninjas?

Netflix introduced House of Ninjas in 2022, with an intriguing premise: the show focuses on the dysfunctional Tamara family, the last remaining ninjas in Japan, who hung up their ninjatōs after “a certain incident in the past”. However, when the greatest crisis in Japanese history threatens the entire country, they must leave their hiding location and prepare to fight.

According to Netflix, the show would combine “spy elements of ninjas taking on top secret missions with a family drama about a group of colorful family members.” That seems like a live-action version of The Incredibles, but instead of superheroes, the family are super-skilled killers, which sounds great. The clip indicates that, like the Pixar film, the show would play with the contrasts between normal life and the family’s secret identities.

Based on a script by Kento Kaku, Yoshiaki Murao, and Takafumi Imai, American director Dave Boyle wrote and directed the program, which stars Kento Kaku, Yosuke Eguchi, Tae Kimura, Kengo Kora, Aju Makita, and Nobuko Miyamoto.

We’re promised a “unconventional ninja spectacle” from the greatest streaming provider, mixing tension with lightning-fast action scenes – and you won’t have long to wait: the series will release on Netflix on February 15th.
