According to rumored specifications, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will include significant hardware enhancements that potentially outperform most folding phones.
This comes from Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, who uploaded purported comprehensive specs for the X Fold 3 Pro on Weibo, along with an apparent photograph of the Vivo Fold 3, ahead of the devices’ expected arrival in China this month.
According to this information, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro appears to be loaded with high-end specs capable of matching and even surpassing some of the greatest foldable phones on the market right now.
Vivo X Fold 3 Pro tipped specifications
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and X Fold 3 could be the first foldable phones to employ the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, giving them a significant performance edge over folding phones running last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
According to rumors, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will have up to 16GB of RAM, which is greater than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google Pixel Fold but equal to the OnePlus Open.
The next-generation Vivo foldable also appears to live up to its Pro name in terms of storage, with up to 1TB reportedly available, but it is unclear whether this is the latest UFS 4.0 spec, the fastest current storage type.
According to Digital Chat Station, the inside screen will be 8.03 inches with a resolution of 2480 x 2200, which is an improvement over the Vivo X Fold 2. The external screen will be 6.53 inches with a resolution of 2748 x 1172, which is an increase over the previous generation. Both displays are believed to employ an LTPO AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, similar to the previous Vivo X Fold 2.
The Vivo X Fold 3 is rumored to have a 5,550mAh battery, while its bigger brother, the X Fold 3 Pro, is expected to have a 5,800mAh battery, making it the largest battery in any folding smartphone to date. It may also be fitted with 120W wired fast charging as well as 50W wireless charging.
The Pro is also said to be “waterproof,” though the specific IP rating was not specified. It is expected to include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and an infrared remote control.
According to Digital Chat Station, the X Fold 3 Pro will feature a 50MP OV50H main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP 3x periscope camera, which is a major advance over the X Fold 2’s two prior 12MP lenses. It is also said to employ optical image stabilization and to be capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second using its V3 imaging chip.
Vivo X Fold 3 Design
But we don’t just have dry facts to chew on here; Digital Chat Station has previously supplied an image of the supposed design of the base model Vivo X Fold 3.
This schematic indicates that Vivo isn’t taking any chances with the Vivo X Fold 3 and has kept closely to the previous design. This features the recognizable circular island with three cameras on the rear, as well as the usage of Zeiss coating on the lenses.
The leaker claims that the design will be the “lightest and thinnest device with an inward vertical hinge.” This would require it to be thinner than the Honor Magic V2, which is only 4.7mm thick; this would make sense when foldable designs develop to compensate for the weight and size disadvantages inherent in foldable phones, manufacturers are striving toward smaller and lighter designs.
If the above specifications and design claims are correct, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is poised not only to outperform its predecessor, but also to challenge the current crop of impressive foldable phones from OnePlus, Google, and Samsung – at least until the rumored Google Pixel Fold 2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 arrive.
